Constructor: Doug Peterson and Brad Wilber
Time: 19:04. ROLEX and EXTRA for HANES and ESTER hung me up in the NW...read "wristband" for "waistband" on the HANES clue. LASSOS for RIATAS, NO TROUBLE for NATURALLY, and IN A SEC for ONE SEC were other delayers. About four minutes slower than tushnet...knew his/her time before I started, which created a bit of a sinking feeling as I realized I was gonna get thumped...the solve was in fact a pleasant up to down and up and down again loop winding up in the SE w/ DE SOTO.
CrossWorld buzz: Very good. A nice grid w/ 68W, 28B. Nice implicit themery...THIS IS TRUE on top of RACONTEURS, the lost in time names RIP VAN WINKLE and NURSE RATCHED in parallel positions, INARTISTIC in the NW and DEAD LETTER in the SE, SOLAR LAMP in the NE paralleling NATURALLY in the SW...mmm...Mssrs. Peterson and Wilber deliver good buzz.
CrossOver buzz: Very good. Pretty accessible for a Saturday...SKATE KEYS is a nice answer w/ a great clue...made me think of Chinese foot-binding. HOOSIER is not as pretty an answer, but the "resident of Angola, Brazil, or Lebanon" clue is also great...even better for the peeps, who are more likely to feel a flash of insight in getting the answer and less likely to feel the jaded "oh ya I've seen that before and I feel kinda bad for getting it so fast" reax that Rex and plenty of Rexeans live with.
