Will MetaRex go back on his hissy fit?
Just occurred to me that SI stands not only for Sports Illustrated but also for swimsuit issue, not just the semi-lame “swimsuit islands” of my earlier post (much as I have many v. fond memories of beauties from Cheryl T. and Christie B. all the way up to Anne V. and Brooklyn D. gracing the shores of improbable atolls w/ their improbable bodies). So I guess Mr. Landman and Mr. Shortz are pulling our…our legs, I guess. The current SI cover I’m seeing on Rex and the news stands w/ Kate the v. v. Great is the real point of this puzz, after all. If ya reclued the center as I recommended, ya lose the whole double entendre.
So does MR admit error and say, “Guys, yer better than I am w/ this stuff—my mistake!” Or do I stay rigorous?—for after all, conviction even in one’s errors is a v. v. big part of what makes a critic like Rex a worthy one, and only in the rich dark soil of conviction can a meta-critic like MR take root and grow into the world-menacing robot villain he is possibly capable of becoming.
No, I won’t back down. Cue Tom Petty song…some day I’ll figure out how to embed…
MetaRex, do you mean "some day I'll figure out how to embed" in your Typepad blog? write to me and I'll help you with it. You can of course just type the link if the song is online -- TypePad will automatically turn the string into a working link, unlike what you have to go through in Blogger. I often embed pictures, so embedding song files or videos probably works similarly. My profile on Rex's blog has my email (and I guess also my signin here) if you want me to try to help.

Ellen, thanks much on the offer! TypePad is pretty good as you say on links--will try to do the picture/song thing next time I come up with a relevant one.
