Constructor: David Steinberg.
Time: 16:22. Got incorrect signal at 14:28. Knew the problem was AN-TAKERS and -EWS. Took forever to get the Y w/ my run through the alphabet from A to Z approach...loved the sense of being snookered by David S. on that..."We'll make the semi-Natick a Y! Ha!" Had BUS, NO GOAL, GROUCH...a smooth sail by MR-ian Sat. standards. Considerably <2x Rex, and an unusual big win over my online better tushnet.
CrossWorld buzz: Good. Yes to Ms. Gomez and also to EMILY BRONTE, EDDIE ARCARO, and EMERSON. Yes also to the convergence of KNOW-IT-ALL and ODIST in the center; a nice self-referential mini-theme for a polymathic, poetic constructor, mayhaps. Cringed at PRETAPE next to ENTERER in the SE; the tech though nice enough doesn't wow; 72 words and 32 black is nice but not spectacular and the grid though nice ain't all that pretty; the 3 x 3 boxes in the NE and the SW are a bit of a minus for an open fielder.
CrossOver buzz: Very good. Nice combination of pop and cultural literacy in this one. The minor tech and aesthetic stuff that bothered MR I don't think is likely to be a comparable issue for lower-key solvers.
