From today's NY Times Print Edition Corrections:
The crossword puzzle on Tuesday provided an erroneous clue for 26-Across, seeking the answer “Gee whiz.” The clue should have read, “Wow, you’re a regular expert at turning right!” not “Wow, you’re a regular expert at turning left!”
On Tuesday, I rated the puzz as very nice for CrossWorlders and as good for RealWorlders. Does the mistake change the rating for either or both groups?
My insta-ruling: For us CrossWorlders, drop rating to good. The mistake ain't the biggest thing in the world, but hey...one thing we buffs care about and should care about is perfection. For RealWorlders, the rating stays at good. The issue there is the wheezy thematic clues; perfection in cluing is not the issue that it is for insiders.
