We tend to assume people are more aware of us than they really are...yep, I get Evan's defensive feeling of being attacked...I've got my own defensive feelings about the fact my post immediately followed the s*pie Anonymouse by a few minutes...
Helps to assume non-omniscience on the Internets even by as formidable an intellect as Evil's...we all got stuff to do other than read each comment carefully before we post...it's a plausible take that the all too vivid s*-pie is what catches the Evil eye and that he hasn't read Evan's post or at least looked at it carefully...
Since I love the red-blue stuff so much, I do wonder about the role of ideology here...my vague sense from his posts is that Evan is a lib (don't really know, more of a base rate assumption about grad students in history), and that he was primed to be more defensive in relation to Evil--to feel a surge of "he must have read my post--he's dissing me!" emotion--than he would have been w/ a non-Evil poster...suspect Evil is different...don't think he's giving a subconscious or conscious dig to Evan as a putative lib...I do think Evil's in-your-faceness is genuinely though not simply connected to his redness...
I leave to any reader who has survived this far the question of whether/how these MetaRexian lucubrations are related to MR's ideology...gotta catch the train outta here...
