Jules Markey's puzzle is a wow. Seven good to very good phrases all packed into a 15 x 15...that's the kind of thematic density that MetaRex dreamed of as a Maleska-era constructor and never pulled off. The OPEN DOOR reveal is v. nice. Reveals strike me as one of a number of areas in which there's been a huge jump forward in CrossWorld in the past few decades. My old era thinking about themes never really included dreams of a beautiful reveal...for me then it was all about increasing density/intensity and interlock and opening up puzzleland to 1960s and onward influences like MLK, Bob Dylan, etc.
V. pleasant feeling during the solve....a smooth slide from side to side mostly going down...kinda like an imaginary amusement park ride where you can go up on the slide as well as down. Happened to know Rick ASTLEY, putting in BIOPSY for CT SCAN didn't waste much time, and the theme was both v. guessable and v. helpful in getting lots of squares filled in at a rapid for MetaRex rate.
Ah, the Internets are/is a funny place...I got lots of emails yesterday telling me that there was a new comment on the MetaRex site...for the first few, I looked hopefully, thinking someone would dissect my illogic and show me a better way forward...by about the fourth one I realized it was just a spambot drug ad bombing of an old post...
Maybe the spam bombing was because of the stuff about old anti-depressant drugs in yesterday's long post?...hmmm...
Nice colloquy yesterday re RACE WAR among us Rex reaxers...a large for Metarex number of visitors.
My summation of the kerfuffle fwiw..that was yesterday...every day is a new day in CrossWorld!
On to Rex...
Yep on the T-W vibe to the theme...yep on the Red Cross appeal!...yep I'm sure on the music but I gotta move on w/ the day so I ain't clickin'...
